ART CORSETS

Art Corsets are suitable for round, conical and oval structures/monuments. An artificial corset is custom-made and is secured around the object in question without affecting or damaging the surface. Made of a wind- and light-permeable material that is durable for a longer period of time and can be easily recycled after use.

ART CORSET - HERMANNA'S SECRET - ALMELO - TEXTILE FESTIVAL TWENTE

XXL-Hermanna

Hermanna's Secret is a tribute to the freedom to be who you are as an individual.

The canvas, 12 meters high and 8 meters wide, was originally made for the Crete chimney in Almelo and was part of the Catwalk exhibition at the Twente Textile Festival in 2021. The work of art is based on the famous statement “Entre ces deux mon coeur balance” (My heart hesitates to choose between the two). The statement comes from the booklet Tjap – Obelisk, which describes a piece of Twente textile history.

In terms of content, Hermanna's Secret is inspired by both feminist and textile manufacturer Hermanna Molkenboer, and by fashion designer and enfant terrible Jean Paul Gaultier. Hermanna was a prominent woman and feminist from Twente textile history at the end of the 19th century. She abhorred the corset, became a figurehead of the first feminist wave and made an essential contribution to women's history, the cradle of gender history. Jean Paul Gaultier earned his nickname enfant terrible in the 1980s because of the men's skirt, the Breton stripes and his famous, provocative and sometimes shocking men's and women's corsets.

WINDMILL ART ZEPHYR & FLORA, A WIN-WIND SITUATION  -  ALMERE

The love story between the west wind (Zephyr) and blooming nature (Flora) is about ultimate cooperation, a win-wind situation that symbolizes sustainability, respect for nature and love for our planet.

The size of the hand-painted corset is 2.20 m x 11.00 m (h x w). The canvas was exhibited in 2012 around a windmill at the Jaap Rodenburg Wind Farm in Almere. This project, with the theme of cooperation, was partly created through collaboration with NUON.
